“Caribbean Wives of South Florida,” a pilot reality show promising a positive portrayal of Caribbean culture, will premiere in Manhattan on Nov. 15, reports the NY Daily News.
Debuting with a red carpet event at Hunter College’s Kaye Playhouse from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., “CWSF” is looking to capitalize on the popularity — and drama — of such shows as “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and “Basketball Wives,” with the added twist of addressing “cultural challenges” in the United States.
The show is the brainchild of Maxine Tulloch, a talk show host originally from Jamaica who took out a $50,000 mortgage on her family’s home to produce the pilot.
Read more from the Miami Herald:
“I was perturbed by The Real Housewives of Miami,” Tulloch says. “South Florida is not just Hispanics. When you look at the demographics on people from the Caribbean, there are just as many of us.”
Tulloch put out various casting calls, including two that aired on the Hot 105’s popular Tom Joyner Morning Show. She was swamped with hopefuls, and wound up with a diverse group of Caribbean women.
Kendra Parker is a Jamaica-born photographer and mom to a 12-year-old aspiring track star. Terryann Ramirez, also from Jamaica, is a mother of two and a radiation therapist who treats cancer patients. Selines Silverio from the Dominican Republic is a financial analyst and personal trainer. Jamaican Cindia Azize is a former model and beauty queen. Brigette Cadet-Young, originally from Haiti, is a Miami police detective. Carmel Moise, also from Haiti, is a publisher. And Dale DeFreitas, who comes from Grenada, is a nurse.
Parker, who was out shopping for a red carpet-worthy dress on Wednesday, knew of Tulloch from her talk show. When she heard about the Caribbean Wives pilot, she thought, “It’s about damn time.”
The pilot has yet to be picked up by a network.

All The Reasons We Think 'Love & Hip Hop' NY Is Going To Be Better Than Last Season!
1. Amina Buddafly, K. Michelle, Tahiry, Yandy, Erica Mena, Nya Lee, Tara Williams
Mona Scott-Young has done it again. She scoured the Big Apple and found the most ratchet and entertainment love stories to build this season of "Love & Hip Hop" New York 's script. Let's take a look at the most promising moments from this forthcoming season!
2. Peter Gunz Is The New Stevie J (Or Wants To Be)
You remember Peter Gunz right? One half of the hip-hop duo that brought us "Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)." The old school rapper brings his love triangle to the new season of "Love & Hip Hop" and we must warn you, Peter comes from the Stevie J school of dating. We witness Gunz beg his baby's mother Tara to never leave him then propose to his side chick, Amina Buddafly (who is also his artist), the very next minute.
3. Tara Wallace Vs Amina Buddafly
The moment Tara Wallace cocks back and slaps Amina Buddafly in the face will be a vicarious moment for all women who have been cheated on. Peter Gunz' baby's mother and his side chick fiance come face-to-face and it's going to be a brawl for the ages! Pay attention Mimi!
4. Tahiry & Joe Budden Give Love Another Try
Last season of "Love & Hip Hop" NY ended with Tahiry and Joe Budden trying to rebuild their relationship, but not before we witnessed how untrustworthy and irrational "Joey" could be. We're anxious to see how their relationship pans out but after watching the the super trailer, we're not sure they're going to make it.
5. An Update On Mendeeces
We were left in the dark about Yandy's fiance, Mendeeces, court status after he was arrested for drug charges related to a former operation. It turns out, Yandy was just as clueless as us! This season will give us some insight into what Yandy and Mendeeces are dealing with.
6. K. Michelle Comes To New York
K. Michelle was one of our favorite characters on "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta." her sarcastic wit and "try me" attitude made her a stand-out amongst the rest. The buxom beauty packed her bags and headed to NY to pursue her career but didn't leave behind her fiery spirit. we can't wait to see how she and Erica Mena get along!
7. Erica Mena & Rich Dollaz Love Rekindled
Erica Mena reveals, on this season, that she is in a lesbian relationship with another woman equally as hot. However, Mena isn't over Rich and wines up in his lap!
8. New Love Story
Saigon and his baby's mother are getting to know each other (backwards, we know) but things aren't going smoothly between the rapper and his love. The two get into a dramatic beef and Sai (don't mind if I call him that) is whisked away by police. Hmm...
9. Eye Candy
Erica Mena's lesbian boo is packing curves!
10. Erica Mena's Mouth
As ratchet as Erica Mena is, she's freaking entertaining. Mena still has aspirations to become the next R&B superstar even if she sounds like a "goat" (so says K. Michelle). Mena will stop at nothing to reach her dreams and while its admirable, it's hard to root for her when she's throwing plates across the room (we'll give her a pass though cause it was at Peter Gunz and he deserves it).
