It’s almost unbelievable that legendary Supermodel, Beverly Johnson just turned 61-years-old. That old saying “black don’t crack” is forever true in her case. We caught up with celebrity makeup artist, Rodney Jon who is the man behind her makeup brushes. He’s worked with celebrities in many genres including Marsha Ambrosius, Draya Michele, Elle Varner, Chef Roble, Dawn Richards and Nina Sky.
Now, he’s giving us insider details on how to create Beverly’s flawless natural look.
“The vision of the look was to keep it very ‘clean, fresh and modern.’ I wanted to keep it very simple, and use earth tone colors to capture her features and enhance her natural beauty,” Rodney Jon explains.
Skin: I prepped her face with Aveda Tourmaline Charged Radiance Fluid, Aveda Tourmaline Charged Hydrating cream, MAC Natural Radiance Face Primer, Darci Lip conditioner and Peter Thomas Roth eye cream. I used Bobbi Brown foundation stick in the color of #7 to highlight her skin and Bobbi Brown foundation in the color of #8 to lightly contour her face. I finished the skin with Black Opal invisible oil blocking powder.
Cheeks: MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in Dark to create more shape and contour, Darci Mineral blush in Cinnabar was swept over her cheeks and Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Champagne cream blush was used to highlight and give a healthy glow to her skin.
Eyes: Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer was applied first. MAC eye shadow Blanc Type was applied all over the lid with MAC eye shadow Expresso swept in the crease. Kiss strip Eyelashes #01, Maybelline Blackest black gel eye liner and Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara topped off her look.
Lips: Darci lip conditioner, Rodney Jon lipstick Pope Olive’ with a pop of Iman Crystal lipgloss in the center of the lip to give her lips high shine.
