Jamie Foxx tapes into the persona of one of hip hop’s biggest music moguls for his new role in the revamped version of Annie.

During a recent interview on “Katie,” the Oscar and Grammy Award winner revealed that Diddy was the biggest inspiration for his Daddy Warbucks-inspired-character named Benjamin ‘Will’ Stacks.

“I’m a cellular phone mogul. I’m running through the streets of New York, I’m trying to be mayor,” he said. “And to be honest with you, I’m letting the cat out the bag just a little bit, I’m sort of mirroring Puffy a little bit.”

“You guys are way too young to remember but back-in-the-day, in the 90s, Puff,” he told the audience members before doing his best Sean Combs impersonation. “Everything was ‘Oh, what’s up playboy? How you doing?'”

“I’m sort of taking a little bit of that from him when it was all about the music, the parties, and the fun,” Foxx said. “And then all of a sudden he has his kids, his beautiful twins and I saw Puff soften. So, I am using that as a little bit of Daddy Warbucks DNA.”

The new version of the classic Broadway musical, which stars young Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis, is slated for a 2014 release. So far, Foxx said filming has been “absolutely amazing.”
