I’ve compiled a list of seven of the best cities in the nation to celebrate Halloween!

Los Angeles, California

The greater Los Angeles area is home to some of the best scary theme park attractions in the nation. Book a quick trip here for the weekend and you can squeeze them all in! This year, Universal Studios Hollywood annual Halloween Horror Nights is themed after the hit show “The Walking Dead.Knott’s Berry Farm in Anaheim is notorious for it’s Halloween transformation where ghouls and ghosts that chase you through the park as you get on rides and then there’s my personal favorite and sure to be heaven for rollercoaster enthusiasts:  Fright Fest at 6 flags Magic Mountain in Valencia.

Salem, Massachusetts

I know this city rings a bell from high school history class! Salem, Massachusetts aka Witch City! Okay so I may be the only one who calls it that, but in the late 1600’s, Salem became infamous for its witch trials, where women who were feared to be witches were burned at the stake. Well, Salem’s once shameful past has been embraced by the city’s current inhabitants and from October 2nd to November 2nd of every year, they have a festival with witch trial reenactments, pumpkin picking and a candlelit ghostly tour, and more.

Estes Park, Colorado

If you think you can handle it, a weekend stay at The Stanley Hotel will be sure to make your skin crawl. Most famous for housing Stephen King and inspiring him to write his horrifying masterpiece “The Shining,” rumor has it the hotel is haunted by three people, and when you’re in the billiards rooms, it’s not uncommon to see one of them!

New Orleans, Louisiana

The city’s reputation for voodoo already creates a supernatural and spooky feel anytime of the year, so when you throw Halloween into the mix, this city really knows how to put on a show! Stay in the French Quarter and partake in its informative and creepy Haunted History tours. The next day, visit the Manchac Swamp aka “The Haunted Swamp” and take a stroll through their famous and visually striking cemeteries.
