Sixteen year old Malala Yousafzai went to the White House to meet with President Obama, Michelle Obama and Malia in the Oval Office. This young activist was shot in the head by the Taliban as she protested a ban on girls’ education a year ago. ThinkProgress.com is reporting, “I thanked President Obama for the United States’ work in supporting education in Pakistan and Afghanistan and for Syrian refugees,” she said in the statement. “I also expressed my concerns that drone attacks are fueling terrorism. Innocent victims are killed in these acts, and they lead to resentment among the Pakistani people. If we refocus efforts on education it will make a big impact.”

What’s strange is that this small part of their meeting was absent from the White House statements. Instead, they focus on Yousafzai’s education push. While education is a major reason Malala is an activist, it’s the drone strikes in Pakistan that have played a major factor in gaining sympathy for Taliban conflicts and that’s what’s launched anti-education strikes across the nation.

Drone strikes have been a problem for the Obama Administration, which is why they have reportedly ended such strikes.Malala’s unconvinced. She’s a true activist, getting a once in a lifetime chance for a chat with the president, but still thought of her people and required President Obama change his tactics.

We could all learn something from Malala, change takes courage and starts with just you.

What do you think about Malala’s drone strike concerns?
