There are new updates in the murder case for Pastor Ronald J. Harris, who was shot dead while preaching during a church revival on Friday.

According to reports, a possible motive for the shooter, identified as Woodrow Karey, Jr, as been revealed. Sources say that his wife filed a rape complaint against the pastor just two days before the shooting.

The sheriff’s office reports that Harris and Karey’s wife exchanged text messages before the murder, however it’s not clear if they shared a consensual relationship or not.

“We’re trying to put all the pieces together,” local sheriff Tony Mancuso said. “[A week before the actual shooting, Karey] stated that he had received some inappropriate images from his wife to Pastor Harris.”

“There’s a lot of speculation as to what took place and the motive in this case and I’m going to tell you that we are going to proceed with great caution in this investigation,” he said. “You have so many rumors going on that it sometimes clouds the water for our investigation.”

“It’s my understanding that they were great friends at some point,” Mancuso added. “At this time the charges against Mr. Karey are appropriate based on the information we have.”
