A life-size statue of Amy Winehouse was scheduled to be unveiled later this month, however the late singer’s father as stopped the ceremony.
According to reports, Mitch Winehouse is a hard man to please. He’s unhappy with the statute’s final design and wants sculptor Scott Eaton to perfect the artwork.
“He doesn’t want anything to go up that he’s not completely satisfied with. But obviously it’s never going to look exactly like her,” Amy’s former boyfriend Reg Traviss told the paper. “But obviously it’s never going to look exactly like her.”
The Amy Winehouse Memorial Statue, located at the British singer’s former home in Camden Square, depicts the soul star standing with her signature beehive in a retro-style dress.
During a recent interview with The London Evening Standard, the proud father said his daughter deserves the statue because she always gave back to her community. “Amy was a wonderful person who did a lot for Camden and for kids,” he said. “She was one of the greatest singers the world has ever known, so why shouldn’t we put a statue up?”
A new unveiling date for the tribute has yet to be set.
The “Rehab” passed away in 2011 from drug and alcohol intoxication. She was 27.
