Rap superstar and  Nicki Minaj covers the August 2013 issue of Marie Claire US shot by Satoshi Saikusa. In the issue she chats about why she ditched her cartoon persona, how she was cast in upcoming comedy The Other Woman, and what we can expect from her third album tentatively titled The Pink Print, which will drop next year.

On what she’s hope her fans to learn from her music:

“Don’t lose the fun side of you, the part of you that fantasized and had a great imagination, but don’t ever get complacent because there’s always someone gunning to take your spot. You’ve got to work like it’s your first day on the job every day. That’s what I do: Work hard, laugh later. I just don’t want people to think that you can get this any other way. You can’t get it with a pretty little smile. You have to put the work in, and that goes for anything you want to do.”

On how to grab your Mr. Right:

“Don’t chase any man. Put your school first. Men love independent women. You don’t have to be a bitch, but there’s nothing wrong with it at times. And: Men are kids at heart. They want to be nourished and pet like a dog.”
