Who is Beyonce’s stylist? Beyonce’s stylist is Ty Hunter, who began working with the R&B star 16 years ago, back in the Destiny’s Child days. When Ty Hunter met the Knowles family, he wasn’t yet a stylist, but rather a window dresser at a Houston boutique. There, he befriended Tina, Beyonce’s mother, and one day, he phoned her to see if she might need style tips for her daughter’s group. “The rest is history,” Ty said in a recent Billboard interview. “The next week, I was at the Grammys, and it just fell into place.”

But who is Ty Hunter? A lucky guy—but also a hard worker. Beyonce’s stylist came to this enviable job with no celeb-styling experience, and despite his lack of training, he’s earned high praise for his work. As Billboard points out, Beyonce’s stylist, Ty Hunter, was responsible for the metal glove she wears in the “Single Ladies” video, as well as the gown she wowed the nation with when she sang “The Star Spangled Banner” at President Obama’s second inauguration.

Beyonce’s stylist, Ty Hunter, may not have had formal style schooling, but he learned his craft from a certain R&B legend. As he told Billboard, his parents took him as a youngster to see Diana Ross in concert, and he was “in awe of all the costume changes and the hair.” “I became a fan right away,” Hunter said. “And that’s what steered me into fashion.”

Who is Ty Hunter, Beyonce’s stylist? According to theGrio, he’s one of the world’s top 100 history makers and innovators. “Hunter is not only a fashion visionary picking the best of haute couture designs and small up-and-coming labels for his clients; he also creates pieces himself for his star mannequins,” the site writes, answering the question, “Who is Ty Hunter?” by suggesting he’s more than merely Beyonce’s stylist. Ty Hunter is a one-of-a-kind genius who simply knows what works.

“Hunter’s blend of personal creativity and exquisite taste has raised the bar of styling to a high art and enhanced the perception of people of color in the mainstream fashion world,” theGrio adds.
