Cheerios was forced to disable the comment section on its YouTube page yesterday, after a new ad for the heart-healthy cereal sparked a large number of racist posts.

The brand’s latest commercial, which features an interracial couple and their mixed-race girl daughter, received a string of ugly comments with phrases such as “Nazis,” “troglodytes” and “racial genocide.”

As a Friday Evening, the video has received well over 400,00 views, with 7,714 likes and 844 dislikes.

Camille Gibson, Cheerios’s vice president of marketing, responded to the controversy with positive remarks. “Consumers have responded positively to our new Cheerios ad. At Cheerios, we know there are many kinds of families and we celebrate them all,” she said.

Check out some of the video’s mixed reviews below and tell us if you think an interracial family should still cause this big of a stir in 2013.

— “Shoving multi-culturism down our throats when we know it fails.. awesome”

— “It is not hatred to love your own people. Cultural Marxist views are threatening to destroy ALL distinct peoples through forced assimilation and miscegenation.”

— “Beautiful commercial. Sad for the haters and racists.”

— “Throughout all of human history, race-mixing and multiracial/multicultural societies have never, not even once, occurred ‘naturally’. It has always been the result of conquest, group A being forced by group B. The systematic decline of western economies has lead to lower white birth rates. Massive non-white immigration leads to loss of land, resources and opportunities for whites. Encouraging whites to race-mix leads to loss of white genetics. It’s not about one Cheerios commercial.”

— “Just had the pleasure of enjoying a Cheerios commercial that featured a biracial family. Talk about ‘good for your heart!”
