This weekend I have a documentary, an Oscar nominee and a foreign film that you probably overlooked while they were playing in theater’s. Lucky for you…. there is Netflix, Redbox, blockbuster and iTunes to save your movie night!

1. Crazy Love

This 2007 documentary that chronicle’s the intense and strange love story of Linda Riss and Bert Pugach boarder’s between creepy and aww-inducing (though the former sums up my opinion). This is a great one to watch with your girlfriends and a bottle of wine. Get prepared to discuss it (and your ex’s) for hours after your done! (Rated PG-13, 1hr., 32 min.)

 2. Beasts Of The Southern Wild

A 2012 American fantasy drama set in the “Bathtub,” a fictional community in the Louisiana Bayou. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards this past year, one of which was a Best Actress nom for a nine-year old Quvenzhané Wallis (who was only six when she starred in the film). Her role is one so exceptional, “haunting” is the only way to describe it. (PG-13, 93 min.)

 3. Headhunters

This 2011 Norwegian action thriller (based on a 2008 novel of the same name) provides so many unpredictable twists and turns that when watching it I got upset at our American action counterparts for not being as interesting. Headhunters centers around a successful corporate headhunter who moonlights as an art thief and finds him self fighting for his life against someone whom he tried to steal from but actually has an agenda far grander than getting his painting back. “Game of Thrones” fans will get a kick out of seeing Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (aka The King Slayer) as a high tech villain. The film is in Norwegian but the action almost makes you forget you are reading sub-titles. (R, 100 min.)
