It’s official: NBC has chucked the deuces to its freshman drama “Deception” after just one brief season.

According to reports, the network canceled the series, which premiered on January 7th with 6 million viewers and ended with an average of 3.5 million viewers, due to low ratings.

Star Meagan Good seemed to respond to the bad news quite well. She wrote this message for fans:

I’m sorry everyone… I just wanted to let you know that NBC has decided not to renew DECEPTION… and I just wanted you guys to hear from me first… I am so thankful …and humbled ..and blessed by the out pour of love and support -to see it come back.. and saddened that it is not… Thank you so much for supporting me :) means so much… Well as I can before :) …Daddy always does best onward and upward :) … Thank you NBC for the Opportunity- I’m definitely better for it ! … Lego ..

Co-star Laz Alonso added, “Thanks 2 all those who loved, supported & fought 4 #Deception!!!#BestFansEver.”

Before the show’s cancelation, it was one of two network dramas that featured Black female lead characters. The other series is ABC’s “Scandal” starring Kerry Washington, of course.
