New Orleans native Burnell Taylor is the latest contestant to pack his bags on “American Idol.”

Today, the 19-year-old was voted of the singing-competition show, leaving six contestants to compete for the top spot.

Taylor shared the bottom spot with country singer Janelle Arthur, and before the news of his elimination judge Nicki Minaj tried to lighten the load by saying he is a winner either way.

“We have the best of the best, so when you go home now, this is not a failure by any stretch of the imagination,” she said. “This is a win — win, win, win.”

Taylor sang a soulful rendition of India Arie’s “Ready For Love,” and although the song brought Mariah Carey to tears, it wasn’t enough for the judge’s panel to offer him a “save” vote.

“Unfortunately … we’re not going to use it,” Randy Jackson said. “Sorry, Burnell. Good luck, brother. We love you. We love you.”

The remaining contestants on the show include Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, Angie Miller, Amber Holcomb, Janelle Arthur and Lazaro Arbos, the only guy.

Let us know if you agree with Burnell’s elimination.
