Fans of India Arie went crazy early this week when the cover art for her new single, “Cocoa Butter,” revealed the soul singer with an oddly lighter complexion. The “Brown Skin” singer has been know to embrace her chocolate skin so many critics questioned the motive behind her new look.

On Friday, India finally responded to the skin-beaching rumors and says she’s “ROTF (rolling on the floor) at the thought.”

She went on to tell her nearly 200,000 Twitter followers that she hasn’t used cocoa butter or any other products to lighten her skin. “I love my #brownskin more than EVER,” she wrote.

Next, to ensure there’s no confusion, India broke down all the reasons why she would never change her completion in four bullets points.

Here’s her explanation:

1. “I wouldn’t endanger my health that way.”

2. “I’m so in love with myself I have no DESIRE to BLEACH myself. Lol”

3. “The GLOW you see IS (magnificent) lighting.”

4.” THE LIGHT you see, Well thats all ME!!”

In the midst of the controversy, India said she would love to shed light on the conversation and keep talking. “Politically speaking racism/colorism in the Black community is a MUCH larger #SongVersation #skinversation,” she said. “THAT I’d LOVE to “shed light on”..that conversation IS REAL, …let’s keep talking.”
