Kim shares:

“I created this gratitude journal to help others on life’s journey. I truly believe that when you start your day in a place of thankfulness, you are setting yourself up to win! No matter what your life looks like at the moment, there is certainly something to be grateful for.”

You can catch Kim performing with Kym Whitley on Tuesday nights in Los Angeles at the Comedy Union and as part of the UNCF Empower Me tour. She will be performing her one-woman comedy show Oh But Wait, There’s More in L.A. this month–January 1120, at the El Porto Theater, and in NYC February 1-3 at the Laurie Beechman Theater.

We caught up with Kim to learn more about her journey to a more eco-chic lifestyle.

HelloBeautiful: How do you define eco-chic living?

Kim Coles: I think of eco-chic living as making inspired choices, whenever possible with the love of Mother Earth and your health in mind. I admire those who can do so 24-7. I’m constantly educating myself in the art of “eco.”

HB: What is one of your favorite eco-friendly activities?

KC: Perhaps a less obvious approach–a lot of my eco-friendly values are expressed through my creativity. When I am not on tour, I spent time constructing art pieces from reused materials. One of my pieces is made from a vintage art sign that I re-painted & bedazzled. Another is a triptych with reclaimed capiz shells from an old chandelier. I made a frame from reclaimed barn wood and Swarovski crystals. I express my eco-chic in my hobbies.

HB: What are some of your go-to eco-friendly products?

KC: I recently decided to make more natural choices, especially with my hair and makeup. I use products from several companies including Shea MoistureJane Iredale, Valana Cosmetics, Josie Maran, AfroVeda Cosmetics, Oyin Handmade, among many other brands.

HB: How has eco-chic living expanded your vision of beauty?

KC: There are more and more companies that are entering the eco-chic conversation. Consumers are demanding products that are effective, safe, eco-friendly and fabulous! There is no longer a reason to sacrifice being chic for being “green.” That is good news for self-professed product junkies like me!

HB: What is one thing we can all do live well?

Gratitude and self love are the keys to living a beautiful life.
