When Alicia Keys isn’t adding to her plush collection of awards or making number 1 albums, the 31-year-old songwriter/singer is busy helping to Keep A Child Alive.

At the annual Keep A Child Alive Black Ball, Keys and attendees honored media mogul Oprah Winfrey for her continous humanitarian efforts.The event, which took place at the famed Apollo Theater raised $1.3 million from pledges and auctions.

The foundation began in 2003 with Keys as the co-founder and Global Ambassador alongside U2’s Bono. The mission is to provide proper medical treatment, nutrition and care for children with HIV/AIDS  living in India and Africa. Since 2004, the Black Ball has raised nearly $14 million.

Guests enjoyed performances from the 14-time Grammy award winning singer, along with Jennifer Hudson and Bonnie Raitt.

There’s no denying her musical talent, and because of this foundation and all it’s done, we can’t deny her big heart.
