It was the uppercut heard ’round the interwebs. Several popular blogs were all a buzz with the World Star video that was posted yesterday, showing an argument between a bus driver and a female passenger. The video opens in the midst of their disagreement and you can hear the video taker saying, “Girl, Nakia (sp?) on the bus, acting a fool.”

The bus rider yelled at the driver, claiming she would beat up various members of his family after he claimed he would get them to “whoop her a**.” This is the first time I’ve witnessed a fight and I couldn’t pinpoint a victim. However, I am a firm believer that anytime a woman is hit, she is a victim.

Watch the video of the bus driver hitting the female passenger here:

We can’t see where the fight actually begins, but the rider gets really close to the driver and I am assuming she assaults him with her hands or with spit. Someone yells, “Oooh you’re going to jail now!” before the bus driver leaves his seat and uppercuts the young lady. The bus driver responds to the girl, who was laid out on the ground after the punch, “Wanna be a man? I’m going to treat you like a man.”

The Cleveland-area transit authority has responded to the incident, confirming that the unidentified driver has been removed and that his behavior was “absolutely unacceptable.”

No one deserves a beating that severe, but here’s my question:

Is the bus driver wrong for defending himself? Answer our poll below:
