Madonna recently performed in our nation’s capital at the Verizon Centre and in the midst of her high-energy show, she opened up to the crowd with a rousing political speech about freedom. In full support of President Obama, Madonna proclaimed her pride in having a Black man in the White House, then said:

“Now, it’s so amazing and incredible to think that we have an African-American in the White House … we have a black Muslim in the White House … it means there is hope in this country, and Obama is fighting for gay rights, so support the man.”

Check out this video of Madonna’s “Black Muslim” manifesto below:

I’m no religion scholar, but last time I checked Christian was very different from Muslim. In fact, President Obama is a practicing Christian. President Obama has faced these harsh criticisms of his religious affiliation since he ran for office and only the ignorant label him a “Muslim” or terrorist. People were starting to come at Madonna for her “Muslim” comment, so she decided to clean it up by offering:

“I was being ironic on stage. Yes, I know Obama is not a Muslim – though I know that plenty of people in this country think he is. And what if he were? The point I was making is that a good man is a good man, no matter who he prays to. I don’t care what religion Obama is – nor should anyone else in America.”

If Madonna doesn’t care about his religion, why even mention “Muslim” in her little speech? I’m not exactly mad at Madonna for her comment. She’s always supported President Obama outwardly. At a recent show, she ripped her top off, only to show the word, “Obama” etched across her back. Madonna meant well, she just needs use a little more tact when she’s making “ironic” jokes in regards to our President.

Are you offended by Madonna’s remarks? Let’s discuss on Twitter @Rhapsodani.
