23-year-old Lianne La Havas is at the beginning of her career and is already nominated for “Best New Act” at The Q Awards. The English songstress released her debut album Is Your Love Big Enough? this year. It charted at number four in the UK and established her presence in the soul/folk music realm.

Her breathy soprano conjures sounds of iconic singers like Joni Mitchell, Billie Holliday, Dolores O’Riordan and even Sarah Vaughn. The London born singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist offers a mostly acoustic hybrid of folk and soul and has been taking airwaves by storm as a new voice on Warner Bros’ roster.

La Havas–who’s mother is Jamaican and father is Greek–was a part of the group, Paris Parade with Christian Pinchbeck (a future member of Elephant but that proved to be short lived. Determined to succeed in her music career, the young siren shifted to solo work and released Lost & Found, a four-track EP featuring a duet with Willy Mason, in October 2011. She learned to play the piano and guitar by her father, which she has incorporated into her act.
