Before Janelle Monae finished her 45-minute set at the “Made In America” festival in Philadelphia yesterday, the diverse and decorated audience came to one clear consensus, that the tuxedo wearing songstress is a spectacular performer!
It wasn’t just her gorgeous smile, perfectly constructed hair, or song arrangements (those do help), as much as it was one simple factor: strong vocals. Monae’s stage presence and James Brown/Andre 3000 like dance moves help her transcend from just a singer to an entertainer.
Rocking her signature pompadour mohawk, the Covergirl covered every inch of the stage with fancy footwork, performing her favored songs “Tight Rope” and recent cover of the Jackson’s “I Want You Back.”
