Who is Cherlise, you ask? Just another new singing girl? Not the case.

With a mentor and boss like Rico Love, (the brain behind Kelly Rowland’s summer smash “Motivation” or Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams”) you may want to take another look.

“The pressure is on when he’s working with Beyonce on Monday, Usher on Tuesday, myself on Wednesday and Chris Brown on Thursday, [just] knowing that I’m in that slot between those artists, pressure is at a higher level,” she says of her relationship with Love.

Cherlise may be new to the scene, but her first singles “Love U Right,” “All Night Love,” and “Hollyhood” show potential for her to be an explosive pop/R&B artist.

Cherlise’s music journey began at a young age with a little push from Fat Joe whom she still speaks with today. “I  have been trying to do music since I was 13, actively persuing it, [but] when I met Fat Joe, he saw the talent and what I was trying to do.  When he introduced me to Rico Love, Rico wasn’t the Rico he is today.”

The meeting between the two was organic. One talent meeting another, looking to grow together as a unit.  “The experience was humbling just because I was in the midst of another talent,” says Cherlise.

As Cherlise is racing down the road to stardom, she admits the days can be overwhelming. “It’s artist development because I’m still developing as an artist. I’m in the studio. I’m recording and writing records with Rico. I’m in the gym. On my down time, I’m writing or spending time with my family, that’s a typical day.”

The video for her current single “Love U Right” featuring Lil Wayne is currently in production. “This is my first single and all we’re tryna come out with a boom, so, big things poppin’,” she says.  Check out the song below:

My quick carry-around purse with my ID’s. I bring little to nothing when I go out because I tend to leave things everywhere. Just my ID’s, my credit cards and that’s it–oh and lip gloss, lip gloss is a must.

If you had to get a tattoo what would it be?:

I already have tattoo’s, I have two. But if I had get another one it would be of my parents name, my mom and my dad.

What’s an urge you never act on?

I have the urge to [pauses] when I’m on stage to jump into the audience and they just carry me all over the crowd. I have yet to do that, but I definitely have that urge. I’ma have that moment soon enough, I’ma get my Lil Wayne and my rock star moment soon.

Last time you cried?

Today! Crying is a purifying experience, you get it out when stuff bothers you; get it out and you keep it moving.

What’s your vice and where do you go to get it?

Ice cream, I really have a serious addiction to ice cream and pizza together. The perfect setting would be the two together that’s my guilty pleasure–brings me comfort all day, so it’s my frienemy.
