Tyler Perry’s popular movie, “Madea’s Big Happy Family” hit theaters earlier this year and was an instant success. From the antics of Madea herself to the drama between the cast members in the movie, it definitely kept us laughing!
With the recent release of the movie on DVD, we figured it would be appropriate to take a deeper look at the leading ladies from the cast, and find out some facts you probably didn’t already know about these lovely actresses! Check out some interesting facts about Lauren London, Loretta Devine, Tamela Mann, Cassi Davis, Shannon Kane and Teyana Taylor and the characters they play in “Madea’s Big Happy Family”.
Lauren London began her acting career in music videos and later transitioned into television and films. She has been featured in music videos with artists such as Snoop Dogg, Pharrell and Ludacris and made appearances in shows such as “Everybody Hates Chris” and “90201”. She is most remembered for her role in “ATL” and now “Madea’s Big Happy Family”. London plays the role of “Renee” in “Madea’s Big Happy Family” who is the girlfriend of Byron (played by Bow Wow).
Lorretta Devine began her acting career in Broadway plays and later transitioned into television and film. She gained recognition from her role in “Waiting To Exhale”. She plays Shirley Hawkins in “Madea’s Big Happy Family” who is the mother to three children including Bow Wow’s character, Byron. After many attempts to bring her family together she brings in Madea to help.
Tamela Mann is an actress and gospel singer who got her start playing the role of “Cora” in many of Tyler Perry’s “Madea” plays. Tamela’s character, “Cora”, appears in “Madea’s Big Happy Family” also as Madea’s daughter. Cora and Madea make a trip to the popular talk show, “Maury” to determine Cora’s real parents.
Cassi Davis got her start in Tyler Perry’s hit television show, “House of Payne”. She plays the role of the heavy pot smoker, “Aunt Bam” in the film.
Teyana Taylor is a singer, rapper, song writer and actress. She first stepped on the scene on MTV’s “Sweet Sixteen”. She plays the role of “Sabrina” who is Bow Wow’s character’s “baby mama” and ex-girlfriend. Her character was made famous when she stepped on the scene screaming “Bryoonnnnnnn”.
Shannon Kane is most noted for her role on “All My Children”. She played the role of “Kimberly” in “Madea’s Big Happy Family” who is one of Shirley’s (Loretta Devine) children.
