According to Popeater.com, Oprah feels a little pressure from her OWN Network and the struggle to secure viewers that she doesn’t want to do anything that might hurt her chances in getting potential viewers. The insider stated: “Unlike in 2008, when a drop in ratings didn’t matter as much for the queen of TV, Oprah is now fighting every day to get people to tune into OWN. Helping a friend keep the most important job in the world is great, but making sure her OWN network thrives is now her priority.”
The “Oprah Show” dropped in ratings in 2008 after she announced that she was backing then Illinois senator Barack Obama. These ratings showed that her audience had fallen by about 2 million viewers since 2005. Now with OWN’s ratings not being extremely high, the company reportedly doesn’t want to take any chances in losing any of the viewers they currently have.
