Stretch marks occur anytime skin is overstretched during growth, weight gain or pregnancy. In periods of rapid growth, the skin cannot generate enough collagen to keep up with the rate it’s being stretched, and thus, stretch marks appear. But don’t worry, much progress has been made in the science of diminishing those pesky scars. Here are three quick ways to get rid of those marks for good.
1. Prevention
The best way to reduce stretch marks is to prevent them altogether. If you’re pregnant, you can do this by moisturizing your belly daily to increase the skin’s elasticity. Also, try to avoid unnecessary weight gain through diet and exercise.
2. Scar Reduction Creams & Oils
If you already have stretch marks, you can reduce their appearance by applying diminishing oils. AMBI® SOFT & EVEN™ Creamy Oil Lotion is a great product to use. The oil contains natural soy bean oil, almond oil and Vitamin E, to soothe and condition the skin. By locking in moisture you can see the scars gradually fade away.
3. Laser Treatment
It’s no cheap fix, but laser treatments have evolved to become quite effective in scar removal. Just remember, laser treatments are tricky on darker skin tones. For the best advice for you, talk to your dermatologist.
