If you’re not one of the sci-fi geeks waiting with bursting anticipation to check out Underworld: Awakening, the fourth installment in the Kate Beckinsale lead series where Lycans and Vampires try to destroy each other in an effort to save their own species and rule the world (that was just fun to type), we’ve got another more shallow reason for you to check it out, Michael Ealy.

The hunky heart throb (who’s also starring in Steve Harvey’s “Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man”) will join the cast of the dark action thriller playing a human detective investigating the resurgence of the Lycans.  We know, we know, we were totally psyched at the thought of Ealy with his shirt off transforming in to a Vampire and biting necks, but we’ll have to settle for his basic human sexiness, which is more than enough to satisfy.  Check out the trailer below and we’re pretty sure you’ll be putting tickets on hold over at Fandango.

Underworld: Awakening in theaters January 20, 2012.  We caught up with Ealy who dished about his favorite holiday traditions and gifts.

HB: What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Hearing The Temptations sing “Silent Night” on the radio. Every time you’re in a car driving, it’s not Christmas until you hear The Temptations’ “Silent Night” on the radio.

HB: What’s been your worst holiday present received?

It’s weird, thinking back to gifts I received as a kid because I appreciate it more now. My grandmother and grandfather, who have now passed, would always get me underwear and long johns. As a kid, I would be like ‘don’t waste your money on that stuff! Get me toys, get me games get me this get me that.’ Now that I’m older, I don’t care about that stuff I need underwear, I kind of appreciate their foresight.

HB: What’s been the worst holiday you’ve given?

When I was little my sister and I would make presents for our relatives ‘cause we didn’t have jobs, so we couldn’t use money to buy gifts. I remember one year we took milk jugs and we turned them into piggy banks. And I’ve been to all of my relative houses who got those piggy banks and they clearly did not keep them. Which led me to believe it clearly wasn’t a good gift to give, but we had a bunch of fun making it.

Same Five Questions

Three tangible things you can’t live without?

I gotta have a good, good Yankee cap and a good pair of ray ban sunglasses. I cannot live without those two things because they help me get around without being noticed. The third thing would be music.

What’s your vice and where do you go to get it?

My guilty pleasure is sugar because I am a sweet-tooth fiend. I’m completely addicted to cookies brownies, Reeses peanut butter cups, sweet potato pie and more. The holiday season is the worst time of year for me because I am just happy and eating it all, sugar is my vice.

If you were forced to get a tattoo at gunpoint, what would you get?

I wouldn’t want to do it but I assume it would be the name of one of my children…if I had any when that happened.

If you had to do karaoke, what one song would you sing?

My favorite one is probably “The Girl is Mine” by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney. Or I would sing “Walk This Way” by Micheal Jackson also.

What do you look for in a woman?

I look for these qualities in a woman: ambition, compassion for others, intelligence and loyalty.
