Near the end of the nineteenth century it was common social entertainment to answer questionnaires noting one’s own likes, dislikes, provocations and inspirations to reveal their ‘true’ selves to their peers, similar to the Slam Books of the eighties. More civilized. Less ugly.

Vanity Fair has adapted the list of French novelist Marcel Proust, the very one he several times answered and shared with his contemporaries of the 19th century. The Proust Questionnaire is featured monthly, luring VF readers further into what’s left of the private lives of a public or noted figure. Who is more fabulous than US?
