WHO: San Francisco-to-NYC transplant Max Osterweis has teamed up with fellow designer Erin Beatty to create a killer resort ’11 collection.

WHAT: Multi-colored tie-dyes are paired with girly sequins and pearls. Bold ethnic and eye-popping prints cover entire maxi dresses. Abstract photos taken of water and space are altered and made into wearable prints and palettes.

WHY IT MATTERS: Patterns and samples for SUNO are created in New York City, and then sent to Kenya to be produced by artisans in small workshops. With all of the unrest in Kenya, fewer people are willing to visit or invest in the country, though it is so full of natural resources and impeccable talent. SUNO utilizes artisans in Kenya, giving them a positive work environment and a way to economically sustain themselves.
