It saddens me to see how Black men have heard that we are the source of all Black women's problems for so long that some of us have seemingly acquiesced and accepted the blame! According to that line of thinking, there are no golddiggers. There are no women out there who pursue men solely on the basis of how many commas there are in their salary. No women have emotional baggage that keep them from forming meaningful relationships with good men. There just aren't any good men! It's not a woman's fault when she "falls in love" with a married man who promised to leave his wife and kids but changed his mind later. Shame on that man for making his mistress that promise, and using her as his little side-piece concubine! After all, it's our fault that so many women have bad attitudes, are loud-mouthed, and confrontational--all in an attempt to show the world that they're "strong." The ones that act this way, have to. What choice do they have, right? It's all our fault because we make women commit adultery, have children out of wedlock, get pregnant by drug dealers, players, and guys who already have 10 children by 10 different women--none of whom are being supported by him. I mean, women are higher beings. They better than us guys, right Steve? Everything they do is just in response to what we've done to them, right? The stuff many of us go through in marriage, relationship, on the job, and even in church dealing with women is all in our heads, right? Dude, what planet are you living on?

Steve you words are so profound. Men really do not want to court woman anymore. Woman are often perceived as being a Golddigger she simply requests that a man date her outside of her house. Woman please demand of certain level of respect. Require that men go through the courtship process of a relationship. If you don't, it makes it extremely difficult for woman who do require it. Men will then choose not to put the sweat equity into courting, because all other woman make it too easy for men. So men elevate your game.

Having said what I said in my last post. I am disgusted that relationships between black men and women have been reduced to dollar signs. Do you know what Barack got for Michelle on their first date? AN ICE-CREAM CONE. I dont think finances is a major part of their relationship, nor should it be. She was his supervisor and clearly in a financially superior position when they met. But she looked past all of that and saw the man that he was. And now, with her love and support he is the man at the wheel. I dont think gold digging and what seems to be his "responsibility to foot the bill" was anywhere near this evolution. Do you?

First let me start by saying rocki1 is absolutely clueless. There are lots of women out there who truly are gold diggers. Then there are those who have their standards and simply want financial reciprocity. Lets define the two for what they are. Then and only then will you be able to clearly see the fine line that divides them. And that line WILL miraculously become thicker. We cannot ignore the fact that there are women out there who judge a mans worth but the material things he possess. And if that's what they use to determine what they want from a man, they will surely be blinded to the things that really make a man good; or bad. I asked my mother, in admiration, how she and my father make it work. I remarked that she must really have that 50/50 relationship across the board. She looked at me with a smirk and said, "No, son. We do not have a 50/50 relationship. We have a 100/100 relationship. We give each other our all and have been doing so since the beginning." She later clarified that this meant spiritually, emotionally, physically AND financially. They have been married since Oct. 3, 1976. She was not a gold digger, she dug for something much more valuable, and she found it.

I do not think a man should do everything for his wife in a relationship it should be equal he must pay for dinner then at another time she should pay for it he should not do all of that then she will develop greed this is why woman's use men to get what they want because they see the large sum of money he got and starts thinking this is when the greed kicks in relationships should be fair he gives her things and she gives him things now if you have a girl/boy and you give that person alot she/he is happy but when you want something she/he does not want to satisfy you by getting it for you or telling you she/he does not have enough money for it basically telling a huge fucking lie :

Well you are only as good as your tools and if no one has taught you how to be a lady then how do you learn? There are no victims only volunteers. People will treat you the way you allow yourself to be treated. We as women, especially women of color need to stop limiting ourselves and putting material incentives ahead of what really matters. Maybe the brother drives a bus but maybe with an intelligent driven sista by his side he can accomplish more but we snub our noses at the fact that he's a bus driver then sit around wondering where the hell the men are at?
Steve is telling it like it is.

And men....you all need to get it together as well. But I'm not a man so you are gonna have to figure that one out!(hehe)

Peace and Blessings to all my positive folks out there!

"On the real ladies, Steve hit it on the nose,...I truly feel him and where he's coming from,...Now all we need to do is have Mr. Harvey write a book about the brother that has learned from past issues with women.
I am glad Steve wrote the book I got this book for several of my friends because I got tired of always repeating the same things over and over. Its not a male bashing book or saying females are better the book is helpful.
I listen to his show sometimes during the Strawberry Letter segment and some of the letters that women and men write in are just good letters because they not only are getting help themselves they maybe asking a question someone else may not have had the courage to ask so they are helping others. Like the other day this lady wrote in about how she has the perfect man she always dreamed of and let him know that she didn't want to have sex with him until they are married because she wants their union to be blessed by God yet she has this ex that she tips out to have sex with because she just can't resist him. Questions like these are answered in the book everybody could use a little guidance every now and then.

In response to comments that state maybe books about relationships shouldn’t be aimed at women, but if you really want to fix relationship issues to instead aim them towards men. That wouldn’t fix anything. The point of the book is to assist women who do want a real man, and to help women weed out the ones who aren’t actually real men. Now don’t get me wrong, writing a book for men could be of assistance for men who are already Real but just want to become better so as to find that women that’s for them. However it wont fix the issue of fake men (if you will). As they wouldn’t read it because they are already getting what they want out of some women. That’s the point of this book, so women can help weed out those BS-ing guys. As well into comments that delve into a bunch of sexism, it should be known by now, yes there are gold-digging women AND men, we all know that. Anything you can call a women (even though you shouldn’t call her that), you can find a guy who deserves to be called it as well. But stop trying to fight that battle, the reason women get called bitches and gold-diggers is because its to put them down. Stop fighting the battle that there are men out there like that too. Of course there are, women and men are as different as people tend to stereotype. But that battle doesn’t fix anything, instead let it be known, "I" am not a bitch and "I" am not a gold-digger, damn it go old school and say, "I am women hear me roar". Just don’t fight for the pointless and already known perspectives, fight for showing who you know YOU are and for what you deserve and want in a relationship. Oh and by the way no there is NOT anything wrong with a woman paying for her own meal et cetera and doing things of that nature that is true (in regards to other comments made below). But that doesn’t disclude men from knowing they should be picking up that bill. Maybe not every time, because men and women are equal, however 50% to maybe even the majority of the time the man should. Why? Because its chivalry! And damn it its not dead! Women are suppose to be able to take care of themselves and stand on their own two feet, however men are suppose to take care of their women anyways, even when both of them know she can take care of herself, because he loves her and WANTS to be there for her and do everything for her and BE her everything. Doesn’t mean a man isn’t suppose to let a women be herself, but we all know the main ideal of this, its an equilibrium in a relationship of a women being a women and a man showing his deep affection for her in one of the many ways that he attempts to do so every day. (And in response to the comment about Steve; I don’t think Steve is an expert, but he is just trying to sell a book and give out some advice. You don’t have to buy the book. But there are a ton of other people putting out books that don’t know any more than he does either. Just because he is famous doesn’t mean he needs to be an expert to want to make a book, being famous just helps him market the book).
In the end there were a few too many bias, some sexist and some blinded comments for this in my opinion. So... I had to add a little something to try and set the record straight a little. :)

I like Steve Harvey and undoubtedly he drops knowledge and has an intelligent sensible out look on life. However, I don't believe that the women of the world are the ones that need to be schooled on love. I understand that ladies buy more books then do men, so of course we are your target audience, but if you really want to make a difference, writie a book for the male population and advise them to stand up and be men. Say what they mean, do as they say, and be honest. Don't have all these mumbo jumbo ways of saying and doing things and expect us women to decode them.

Have fun! Thats it. your problem just may be that you need a change of scenery. You cant keep going to the same type of places expecting different people. Trust me once you start your new career your going to meet all kinds of new people. sometimes its hard for us to see a good man even if he is sitting on us, because they are not what were used to. And dont change shit about you, if you always treat yourself like a queen and expect nothing less you will attract it to you. and thats not being conceided thats confidence! its bout time these damn men learned how to court a woman again! sdm7 called it!
