I found the interview to be informative and insightful especially the part about economics. In the Black Community for the most part, status is determined by what you're rolling in, what you've got on your face, in your mouth, on your hands, in your pocket and on your back. Oh, and let's not forget on your feet. It's out there for all to see. For the most part, our culture in not "long term thinking" or taught to delay gratification, hence the desire to not stay in school and study, or to sacrifice wearing or having the "best " thing in order to wait for something better. Investing money takes time and discipline. You DONT see the return right away and often times there is risk involved in some investments, which Black folk don't want to take. As was brought out in the interview if your grandmother wasn't into investing and saving, she didn't teach it to mom or dad, and they didn't teach it to you. Most of these young brothers and sisters are coming into big money for the first time not only in their own lives but the lives of their families and generations. After years of NOT having, and seeing their peers and family members not having, there's no MODEL available for WAITING. As far as someone being able to "sit them down" and tell them what to do with their money, who's that person going to be? Mom? Dad? their Broke homies? If they HAVE money and their peers and family don't , they ALREADY feel they're doing better. If any advice is to be GIVEN and LISTENED to it would have to come from WITHIN the industry by knowledgeable compassionate professionals, who FORESEE what can happen and does happen and will let them know .

Ridiculous! First I mourned the mass defection of black men to white women while wholesale abandoning the women who birthed them, protected them, nurtured and gave them their first dose of love and respect - until I realized that most black men as a whole - especially those wealthy and/or famous black men - are very stupid children ashamed of who they are. I admit it still sometimes hurts to see so many empty-headed black men picking up anything white even when they're accomplished and the dyed blonde on their arm has the character and potential of a dead alley cat - so long as she's white. Then I remember that black men like that - hating themselves, the women who gave them life, never even notice the beautiful, brave black women who daily face down the world and make it look easy. And it turns my stomach when I look at them. Too stupid to realize the whole world is laughing at them because of their stupidity whether they have $$ or not. The thought of touching a fool like that would make me feel as unclean as he has become. Other races do not so easily trade their very souls for the cultureless greed the white man calls success. Do black men ever wonder how many of his own blood that white woman's blood has strung up with rope? By that same token he surrounds himself with what evil has taught him he needs to make up for his blackness. And he believes it to be true without question. Foolish, foolish boys with no idea how to be men - no substance, no strength, no character and deathly afraid to be the men they were made to be because something evil 500 years ago saw the beauty and strength in black and became savagely envious and afraid. Afraid it would disappear completely by comparison so it destroyed the beauty in black. After awhile some of us believed it ourselves.

Black men have made a mockery of us in so many ways that even the rich athlete or rapper - is considered a vaudeville, black-faced joke. After they get the gold and the white woman they have no idea what's supposed to come next.

Tune in next week and catch the latest episodes of T.O. and "Ochocinco" drooling over skanky, dyed-blonde, gold-diggers that they firmly believe are the "women" of their dreams. And they probably are.

Now you want to say you need a these bodyguards to protect you from the same people you multilated on your way up. Others are trying to be bigger than what they are. Young people watch them, and they think this is the life. Young peoples minds are still young and not developed. So thats easy.

Having a bodyguard can be a double-edged sword. Although there might be tiny bit of protection in having one (or having several), they can draw attention and lead people in the vicinity to wonder who's being protected, which can in turn place the celebrity in further jeopardy. However, I do understand the mindset of those who feel that they need a bodyguard. There are quite a lot of delusional and potentially violent people out there who might be especially drawn to celebrities.

As for Matthew McConaughey... I've lived in Southern Cali and often visited L.A. It's not uncommon at all to see celebrities just out there doing their day-to-day thing, whether is jogging, shopping, eating at a restaurant, or whatever. They're probably more likely to be hassled by TMZ paparazzi than by any threatening individual. The same could be said for certain parts of Manhattan where NYC-based celebrities are often seen carrying out their day-to-day business without getting swarmed by fans or threatened by psychos.

I also agree with what Northside Lolita said about some celebrities wearing all sorts of expensive jewelry while walking the streets. They just render themselves as targets for any potential crook. It's not a good idea in general, but especially not for a celebrity who might draw extra attention anyway.

you people are completely missing the point. Someone star-struck, gangsta or Madonna, will get mad men coming at you, regardless of whether you're black or white or the act you put on. Do you not remember the Commish's wife, actress Theresa Saldana??? Huh was she Gangsta? Was she black, trying to show out and therefore deserved to get stabbed up a dozen times? Rebecca Schaeffer ring a bell? Laws against stalking were put in after he death. If you're in the public light, crazies come out, and you will need security.
And by the way, goons are waiting for faux-celebs to make these kinds of statements, so they know who won't have coverage and they can maximize their return on stickups!
